What makes it even more difficult for high school and college hitters is that their seasons are so much shorter. Which is why it is even MORE important for these players to keeping working hard on what made them successful up until this point in their career and push on through their failures. A bad 2-4 weeks for a college player can have a greater impact on a season than David Ortiz's first 3 months this year (OUCH!). But that still doesn't mean change!

This gentleman is not a MiLB or MLB coach and unfortunately he is not teaching what is being taught at the professional level. Why teach anything different than what the best in the world are taught, beats me, but he's not the only one doing it!

This is tough, but try and eliminate the fear of getting thrown out. Too often even those that are capable of running are afraid to take the chance of getting yelled at if they get thrown out. Base stealing is a risk, but it can be an educated risk worth taking.

Educate your base stealers. Teach them how to look for breaking ball / off speed counts to run on or share with them whether or not a pitcher is slow to the plate. Just as anything, it takes PRACTICE and I think most of us can admit that it doesn't get practiced enough.

A GREAT idea if you're not playing everyday! I'd suggest letting the pitcher warm up for a bit and then trying to slide in. Some may say no while other may like seeing a hitting in the box. Don't forget to where a helmet!

I played a utility role in the minor leagues for 3 years and there came a point in my career that I was hitting .150 at the all-star break. I was so frustrated I almost walked out. Instead, I sat down with our field coordinator and asked how I could turn the corner with the bat if I wasn't playing everyday? He said to get in the bullpen before games to get my ABs and that when my chance to play came around I'd be ready. He was right and I hit .300 over the second half of the season.

Hey hey, some Yankees dropping in around here. Also a fellow PA native myself, we were lucky to even have fences on some fields. I remember a few that were cornered off of a football or soccer field and if you hit them just right they'd role forever.

Good points here. It will only take a toss or two to get the just of it, but that time spent may save you the game winning run. More importantly, if you're at a showcase or big tournament you may also catch the eye of a baseball savvy recruiter/scout.

One of the best things I learned was how to train my legs. I was super quad dominant and could hardly flex my hamstrings. Running faster is not about reaching out as far as you can with your stride, but rather how hard you can drive off of the ground and how fast you can get back to the ground to do it again. Train your HAMSTRINGS! Strengthen your driving force downward! For me, it was one of the hardest muscles to get motivated to train, but when I saw the results it was a no brainer. Good luck!

Legal, not sure, but college recruits across the board need to be aware of the consequences. Employers have been using social networking sites to eliminate candidates for some time now. I've heard of numerous accounts of employers seeing a bit too much on a social network and as a result taking the candidate out of the running. You may feel cool with a beer in your hand and a hottie on your hip, but it may just pull you out of the running for a big time scholarship. Before you post ask yourself, is it really worth it to feel cool now if it could POSSIBLY ruin your successes in the future?

Look at the big league guys...that's what makes them so good. They make little adjustments...one of the biggest differences between pro players and amateur is how quick they can make adjustments.
